Gramps Hamps aka Ketcher Wade

Published by UTRam on

Gramps Hamps was started when Ketcher started bottle feeding bummers at the age 5. He then wanted to start his own herd so he took a ewe from his Grandpa Alvin and a Ram from Grandpa Rod. He continued breeding from both herds and now has a good amount of ewes.

Ketcher has always had a love for the barn. He’s never needed permission to jump into action. Ketcher and Kutter started showing their herds at the Eastern Idaho State fair and Utah State Fair. He was only 7 years old and won supreme champion buck in 2017 at the Utah State Fair. Grand Champion Ram in 2016 and Reserve Ewe in 2015. He started showing in the open classes before he was old enough to show in 4-H.

Ketcher enjoys the breeding aspect of farming and he can tell you full pedigrees of sheep from his herd. He also enjoys lambing season and eagerly waits every year to get “lambs on the ground.”

If Ketcher would put the time into school that he does learning his herd, grandpa Alvin’s herd, and grandpa rods herd he would be quite the student! Ketcher is the only kid who gets barn chores taken away as punishment!!! Gramps hamps was formed because two grandpas passed their love of the sheep industry down to their grandsons. Ketcher and Kutter love the barn it’s their happy place and their love runs deep for this industry and it brings them pure joy and will for many years to come.
